Welcome to the Il Mare Film JukeBox Channel

Silvia Holzinger and Peter Haas formed IL MARE FILM in 2001. IL MARE FILM produces independent artistic documentary films for digital cinema release and niche markets. Each single film helps to build an audience, to develop individual audiences and spur unexpected partnerships with local institutions. IL MARE FILM productions are based on communities and often presented on film tours including public audience discussions. The award-winning Weizenbaum documentary is mainly shown in cooperation with universities and the scientific community. It brings together people that otherwise would not have met, in particular not at the cinema. IL MARE FILM founders are filmmakers, directors and self-distributors offering the broadest freedom thinkable for licensing. Sometimes, to be small is an advantage!

Weizenbaum. Rebel At Work

Weizenbaum. Rebel At Work

The film spans 8 decades of Joseph Weizenbaum's life. It provides a stage for his humorous narrative depicting a World of Yesterday while reflecting on the dawn of the computer age. It follows 84-year-old Weizenbaum on some of his numerous public lessons, effortlessly entertaining overcrowded lecture halls. The old man is an up-to-date chronicler, a chief witness against militarism and the myths of technological progress, but he remains a modest, funny and most reflective story teller.
